How can I apply to the ENFIELD Exchange Open Call?
First, you need to access the public open call here. After reading it carefully, you should complete the technical proposal annex and upload it in PDF format along with a link to a 2-minute presentation video in the application form, here.
How can I add the 2-minute Presentation Video to my applications?
The video will not be uploaded during the application. In the application form you will need to provide an URL link to the repository where you stored your video. Applicants should record and watch the final version of the video to ensure it's ready for submission. Store a copy of the 2-minute Presentation Video on an online repository (e.g., YouTube, Vimeo, etc) and in the application form provide the URL link. It is important to adjust the video's privacy settings so that the evaluators have access to the URL link to watch the video. If the video is not accessible for watching, it will be considered that no video was associated, making the application not eligible.
In which languages can the application be submitted?
Applications can be submitted in English only. The 2-minute presentation video must also be in English.
What is the duration of the exchange project?
Each project will have a duration between 3 to 6 months.
Can I apply to more than one challenge?
Yes. Applicants can submit multiple proposals but only one project can be awarded per beneficiary.
When is the deadline for the application?
Proposals should be submitted until Sunday, 31 March 2024 at 17:00 (CET).
Extended deadline: 14 April 2024 at 23:00 (CET)
When will I be informed about the application’s results?
All applicants will be informed of the results of the evaluation process by email by 23 April 2024 (indicative date). The list of the selected projects will then be published on the information channels of the ENFIELD project.
Who can I contact in case of doubts?
Queries about applications can be sent by email to enfield.opencall@inova.business before 25 March 2024. We cannot guarantee that emails will be answered after this date.
How many Exchange Open Calls will ENFIELD have?
ENFIELD will have four open calls. The first, currently open until 31 March 2024 - 17:00 (CET) and three others are foreseen for summer 2024, spring 2025 and summer 2025.
Is there any additional financial support available for researchers with disabilities or those who have childcare responsibilities?
The open call offers successful applicants a mobility allowance of €2,400/month. No further financial support is available through the open call.
What are the intellectual property rules for publication? Can I include published content in my PhD thesis?

Please refer to the open call documentation for detailed information on IPR management.
Is there funding available to cover overhead costs or support my employer in managing my duties while I am engaged on this program?
Financial support will not be extended to the employer of the selected researchers.
Am I allowed to propose my own research challenge instead of selecting from the ENFILED proposed challenges list?
No. Applications must be presented in response to the ENFIELD proposed challenges.
Is it possible for a group of researchers to include members from different universities located in different countries?
The open call allows researchers from various universities across different countries to participate, as long as the countries meet the eligibility criteria outlined in the open call documents.
Is the open call funding for the applicants or the organizations/institutions?
The funding is exclusively for researchers (individually or in a group).
How is the payment process handled for a group of researchers?
Each researcher within the group will receive a monthly mobility allowance of €2,400/month.
Can the selected researcher balance their professional/academic commitments with their involvement in the ENFIELD exchange scheme?
The exchange programme does not necessarily need to occur entirely on-site at the host institution. Specific arrangements can be made between the researcher(s) and the host institution.
Are humanities/social science scholars eligible to participate in the ENFIELD open calls?
Researchers from all fields are encouraged to apply. In the application form, candidates will be required to demonstrate how they can contribute to the specified research activities associated with the selected challenge.
Will there be opportunities available for individuals from Ukraine?
Since Ukraine is listed as a third country associated to Horizon Europe, researchers established in Ukraine are eligible to apply.
Is it possible to choose any other host institution in the EU besides the ones listed in the ENFIELD catalogue of challenges?
No, it is not possible to choose any other host institution aside from those listed in the catalogue.
